Minutes of Meeting for June 7, 2018

Minutes of Meeting for June 7, 2018

  1. Call to Order:   Bill E.  led us in the Pledge and then we sang God Bless America.  Bill then turned the meeting over to Barb.
  2. Hostesses:  Barb L. and Susan D.  Barbara reports 33 in attendance today.  We did have a guest Macheco that some of our folks met over at the library when they go there for cards and games on Tuesdays.  We hope that Macheco will join us in the very near future.
  3. Vice President:   Debbi S.:  Debbi reports we have 110 members.
  4. Secretary:   Kristi G.:   No corrections to the minutes and they were accepted.
  5. Treasurer:  Walt R.:   Walt reports $2,266.45 in the bank.   WE WILL BE REAL SHORT THIS WEEK.  Please people, remember to put your money in the pot for coffee “and”.  It’s $2.00 for a cup of coffee which includes all refills; $1.00 for sweets. Thanks much.
  6. Coordinators’ Reports:
Sunshine Mary M.:  Mary was reiterated about Elaine being in rehab and that she would love to get cards, calls and visits.  Also, our dear Rose had to have kidney surgery yesterday.  There was a kidney stone that just would not leave her, so they had to surgically remove it.  Please wait a few days before calling her as she is still in discomfort.
·         Historian:  Magda Q.:   No Magda, no report.
·         Philanthropy:    No report but we are still collecting money for the food bank.
·         Activities:  See activities listed below.  Note:  When you sign up for an activity, please let whoever oversees that activity know whether or not you’ll make it.  It’s embarrassing if you tell a place that 30 or 40 folks are coming to a function, so they set up for that, get extra help for that and then only 20 or so show up.    Please remember to RSVP if you are going to attend something and to let the person in charge know if you can’t make it.  Thanks.

  1. Group Concerns/Good of the Group

  • It’s our June food drive for the Marana Police Department next Thursday.    We’ll be collecting all the foodstuffs and taking them over to the police department after the meeting.  All food donations are most heartily accepted and appreciated.
  • Sharon Simpson went up to the SCRCR “Annex” in Show Low or wherever they all are in the mountains and had a wonderful, peaceful relaxing time and says that they are all having a wonderful time up there.

  1. Thought for the Day:  Sandy P.  Sandy ‘s thought for the day is as follows:  Have you ever stopped and wondered what God has done in your life that you’re not even aware of?  Maybe He healed you before you even knew you were sick.  Perhaps He saved you from a fatal car crash that neve happened.  I have felt like God has protected me more times than I can count, so I can only imagine how many times He has rescued me when I was unaware that I was even in danger.  Take a moment to thank God for protecting you.  He is always watching over you and He’s there for you even when you don’t realize it.  What an awesome God we serve!
Her joke was about southern translations as follows:  “Ya’ll” means 2 or more people.  “All ya’ll” means 3 or more people.  “Might could” translates to might be able to.  “I reckon” means I guess.  “Fixin’ to” means I’m going to.  “Yonder” means over there someplace and last but not least, “Well, Bless your heart”, translates to “I don’t want to hurt your feelings, but you are an idiot.”
  1. Adjournment:  Bill E.: Bill adjourned the meeting at 9:58 AM.
