Minutes of Meeting for June 21, 2018

Minutes of Meeting for June 21, 2018

  1. Call to Order:   Bill E.  led us in the Pledge and then we sang God Bless America.  Bill then turned the meeting over to Barb and Susan.
  2. Hostesses:  Barb L. and Susan D.  Barbara and Susan report 35 in attendance today and welcomed back our dear Rose!  It was so good to see her back and we will continue to hold her in prayer.  Susan and Barb welcomed two new folks - Miss Georgia who is a friend of Marie Moore’s and was visiting from Denver and we hope to see her back soon.  Also, Ann Cobb brought her friend Kate Amdahl and Kate was so taken with us that she says she’ll be back next Thursday to join up!   Susan gave a quick report on SCRCR “North” – they were all gambling and making money this morning, so they didn’t give her much of an update.  We’ll have to wait for Dorie’s minutes.  Susan also told us she and Gene would be leaving again on Saturday for Michigan to see their son and his family.  They will be gone for the summer and they will be missed.  We made Susan promise not to let Gene near any kind of tools of any kind at all even though he’s the safety director for SCRCR “North”.  (It’s only a title people 😊 )
  3. Vice President:   Debbi S.:  Still 110 members.
  4. Secretary:   Kristi G.:   No corrections to the minutes and they were accepted.
  5. Treasurer:  Walt R.:   Walt reports $2,216.46 in the bank.   Please people, remember to put your money in the pot for coffee “and”.  It’s $2.00 for a cup of coffee which includes all refills; $1.00 for sweets. Thanks much.
  6. Coordinators’ Reports:
Sunshine Mary M.:  Mary told of Carol Anda’s heart procedure and then Hilde told us that Jorge has hurt his back so let’s keep them both close in prayer.  Sharon told us that Elaine finally got home yesterday and she thanked everyone for the cards and phone calls and prayers.
·         Historian:  Magda Q.:   No report, but thanks for the tabs and she still expects lots of them to come back from the mountains with SCRCR North people upon their return 😊
·         Philanthropy:     Sandy reports only $24.00 in the jar so far since John left so c’mon folks, let’s ante up for the Marana Food Bank.
·         Activities:  See activities listed below.  Note:  When you sign up for an activity, please let whoever oversees that activity know whether or not you’ll make it.  It’s embarrassing if you tell a place that 30 or 40 folks are coming to a function, so they set up for that, get extra help for that and then only 20 or so show up.    Please remember to RSVP if you are going to attend something and to let the person in charge know if you can’t make it.  Thanks.
  1. Group Concerns/Good of the Group

  • We discussed Fry’s and the remodel.  Some like the idea of self-serve everything, most don’t.  We’ll see what happens.  We are mostly concerned with folks losing their jobs.
  • Kristi reported that the MPD was thrilled as always to receive your generous gifts of food and drink!

  1. Thought for the Day:  Sandy P.  Sandy’s thought for the day: “Your truest friends are the people who don’t walk out the door when life gets hard.  They actually pour some coffee and pull up a chair!”
Her joke of the day:  A guy walks out of the restroom and a passing girl says “Sir, your garage door is open”.  Guy asks her if she saw his Harley.  She replies “No, I saw a mini bike with two flat tires”.
  1. Adjournment:  Bill E.: Bill adjourned the meeting at 10:03 AM and then we had birthday cake.
