IMPORTANT NOTICE

IMPORTANT NOTICE
PLEASE NOTE We are an active group of congenial senior citizens and retirees who meet at 9:00 AM on most Thursdays at The Station Pub and Grill at Wade and Silverbell in Marana, Arizona. The group has been in continuous existence since 1994. Prior to January 2013 we met at the Continental Ranch Community Center. The Association Board of Directors changed the use policy of the community center to include a $40.00 fee for each weekly meeting. With our small operating budget we were unable to continue meeting there. Rock N Java hosted our meetings until their business closed.   Now our home is The Station.

Minutes of Meeting for August 4, 2016
1.       Call to Order:   Larry L., started this session at 9:30 am with the Pledge of Allegiance and in singing God Bless America.  Walt R. and Jim A., both shared cute jokes.
2.        Host/Hostess:  Barb L., happy to see everyone as always and that we had 41 in attendance today.  Barb also commented on the loving and generous character of our group upon seeing all the foodstuffs brought in for the police department!  Your response was overwhelming!  Our baskets were bursting with goodies from store bought to home made.  Barb and Cheryl W. took their goodies to the Marana Road facility and Rose, Hilde and Kristi took to the Ina Road sub-station, complete with the thank you cards supplied by Magda.  Kristi heard from the Marana Road location later in the afternoon that they were thrilled.  Kristi has also since heard from Ina Road and they were overwhelmed as well.  We certainly did our good deed and I want to personally thank everyone again for their participation.  I know Magda joins me in this thanks as she thought of this and it was so great that everyone was on board with it.
3.       Vice-President:   Larry L.:  114 SCRCR members total.
4.       Secretary:   Kristi G.:  Minutes for July 28, 2016 were approved and accepted.

Hilde brought up the subject of home security cameras due to a friend who was having a problem with a stalker.  Jim A. also brought up that there were break-ins of homes near him and Linda.  Kristi told the group that she and her son have started a business where he installs security cameras (along with sound systems, home theaters, and much more) outside your home so that you can view on your phone, your computer, your television or all 3.  She has business cards if you would like one.
8.       Thought of the Day: Sandy P. closed the meeting with a great thought along with a couple of cute sayings.
9.       Adjournment: Larry L.:  The meeting was adjourned at 9:53 AM.

Minutes of Meeting for July 28, 2016
1.       Call to Order:   Iles W., started this session at 9:30 am with the Pledge of Allegiance and Maureen led us in singing God Bless America.  Iles then had some jokes to share and once again, a reminder that the coffee is $2.00/cup with free refills and the pastries or fruit is $1.00.
2.        Host/Hostess:  Barb L., happy to see everyone and that we had 37 in attendance today.  Still pretty good for the middle of summer.  Barb also thanked Linda and Bea for all their work in making the outings to the Gaslight Theater and Little Anthony’s Restaurant so enjoyable.  Well done ladies!
3.       Vice-President:   Larry L.:  114 SCRCR members total.  Larry was approached by someone from CareMark Health who wanted to give us a presentation on their plan, but the membership voted this down.  Instead, Carol A. had a great idea to bring in a broker who handles all different insurances to speak to us as the “re-up” time is approaching.  Larry also asked that if we are at an outing of some sort for someone to please take pictures to memorialize it.  We’ve not been doing that as of late unfortunately and the pictures are always nice to share.
4.       Secretary:   Kristi G.:  Minutes for July 21, 2016 were approved and accepted.
5.      Treasurer:  Carol A.:   We have $2,362.00 in the bank.
6.       Coordinators’ Reports:
a.       Sunshine Sandy P.:   No report – everyone is well for the third week in a row!!!! J
b.       Historian:  Magda:  No Magda today but on her behalf Iles reiterated the importance of bringing the pull tabs from cans to Magda for Ronald McDonald House.
c.       Philanthropy: Jim A.:  Took $80.00 and 10 pounds of food to the Marana Food Bank.
d.       Busybody: Elaine H.:  Just a reminder to all new folks to get her their emergency contact information and why it’s so important.
e.       Activities:  Rose M.: reported on the schedule of activities (see below).
7.      Group Concerns/Good of the Group:  Bill E. brought up the subject of computer scams once again which is always a problem.  Bill is a really savvy guy when it comes to computers, and he got into a situation with a hacker, so if it can happen to Bill, it can happen to any one of us, especially those of us (present company included) who aren’t so “tech savvy”.  We have to be vigilant and careful with what we open up and do.  Also for the good of the group, Rose has found a place that will take old electronic stuff.  It’s called Rise Equipment Recycling Center located at 1134 S. Park Av., in Tucson.  They accept donations of working and non-working televisions, computers, computer peripherals, landline telephone systems, as well as other electronic equipment.  If you are taking in any computer, please take out your hard drive first and destroy it.  Do not take your hard drive in.  Hours are Mon. thru Fri. 9 AM to 6 PM and Sat. 9 AM to 2 PM.  This is a freebie – no charge!
Just a reminder to bring your donations of fruit or food stuffs to next Thursdays meeting for our wonderful Marana Police Department.  We ask for fresh fruit, cookies, cakes, health/power bars, things the Officers can take with them in the car and eat easily.  This is the only day we will be collecting as we will package it up and take it right to the two locations after the meeting.
8.       Thought of the Day: Sandy P. closed the meeting with a great thought along with a great ending joke as always.
9.       Adjournment: Iles W.:  The meeting was adjourned at10:21 AM.
