Minutes of Meeting of February 18, 2016
  1. Call to Order: Iles : The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance @ 9:30am, and had a couple of cute jokes to start the meeting off with a smile J  Iles gave Edna a big thank you for coordinating the trip to Barleen’s Arizona Opry and all who attended that outing agreed it was absolutely super!!! 
  2. Host/Hostess:  Barb L. and Susan D.:  Unfortunately Susan wasn’t at the meeting because she was not feeling well.  We hope she gets well quickly!  Barb welcomed back Suzette and Mary.  It was so nice to see them. J
  3. Vice-President:  Larry L.:  113 members and 45 attended today.
  4. Secretary:  Kristi G.: Minutes of last week were approved and accepted.
  5. Treasurer:  Carol A.:  We have a balance of $2,413.00.  Dues must be paid by February 29th please.
  6. Coordinators’ Reports:
    1. Refreshments:   Coffee is $2.00 with free refills and pastries are still 1.00 each
    2. Sunshine:  Alice R. and Sandy P.:  A card was sent out to Elaine D., who is feeling better thankfully.    Let’s keep all in our prayers.
    3. Historian:  Magda: No new report but she told how great the luncheon was at Hooter’s.  Everyone who attended that luncheon agreed.
    4. Philanthropy:  Nothing new.  Jim will be picking some grapefruit this week for the food bank.
  7. Busybody Elaine H.:  Nothing new.
Activities:  Rose M.: a.) signup sheets for activities are available. b.) If any members have suggestions about activities, please let Rose know.

·         Wednesday, February 24th Lunch @ Dominick’s Real Italian Restaurant @ 8330 N. Thornydale beginning @ 1:00 PM.   Dominick’s is located near the grocery store in the same shopping center where Taste of Texas is located at Cortaro and Thornydale.
·         Friday, February 26th:  Lunch @ 1:00 PM at Little Anthony’s and then see The Cisco Kid at the Gaslight Theater @ 3:00 PM
·         March 6th:  The Toy Show from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM
·         Thursday, March 17th:  Dinner at Elks Lodge beginning at 5:30 cocktails followed by dinner @ 6:00 PM.  The entertainment (Irish dancing) will start @ 7:00 PM.  There is a sign-up sheet and the cost is $18.00 per person.
·         For other events check the “Happenings” page in the weekly Marana paper or tucsonhappenings.com.
  1. Group Concerns/Good of the Group:  Jim A. is looking into the zip line excursion sometime around the end of March.   The cost is $69.00 per person.  It is lots of fun. Rose gave Walt 2 good recommendations to add to our growing list of contractors.  One for a locksmith (C & S) and another for garage door opener repairs (Always Open and Shut).  Always Open and Shut were also recommended by Ace Hardware and Brake Max.  The Great American Theater in Oro Valley will only be a music venue for now.
  2. Thought of the Day:  Sandy P.:  Sandy told a lovely sentiment and a really cute joke to end the meeting.

Minutes of Meeting of February 11, 2016

Minutes of Meeting of February 11, 2016
  1. Call to Order: Iles : The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance @ 9:30am. Iles had a couple of announcements discussing the Agenda, that the board decided we’ll send the minutes out on Tuesday now in case there is something that needs to be added before the next meeting and also introduced the birthday folks.  Larry was running the Christmas party pictures during the meeting and Walt R. complimented Larry and Jim on the great pictures and we all agreed wholeheartedly! J
  2. Host/Hostess:  Barb L. and Susan D.: Barb and Susan welcomed back those who have been gone for a while.  It was good to see Don O., Gladys and Lilly….welcome back!!!! J
  3. Vice-President:  Larry L.:  113 members and 55 attended today.
  4. Secretary:  Kristi G.: Minutes of last week were approved and accepted with one exception.  Joanne R. brought up the fact that it’s Barleen’s Arizona Opry not Bardeen’s.  Kristi fixed this in the minutes.
  5. Treasurer:  Carol A.:  We have a balance of $2,518.00.  Dues must be paid by February 29th please.
  6. Coordinators’ Reports:
    1. Refreshments:   Coffee is $2.00 with free refills and pastries are still 1.00 each
    2. Sunshine:  Alice R. and Sandy P.:  They sent out cards to Colleen and Dave T. who are both ill.  Jeanne L.’s surgery is scheduled for March 10th and Larry will keep us apprised, he promised!  Let’s keep all in our prayers.
    3. Historian:  Magda: No new report.
    4. Philanthropy:  Nothing new.  Jorge will be picking some grapefruit for the food bank and will call if he needs help.
  7. Busybody Elaine H.:  Thanked the folks who have given her their emergency contact numbers.

·         Friday, February 26th:  Lunch @ Little Anthony’s @ 1:00 PM followed by The Cisco Kid @ 3:00 PM @ The Gaslight Theater.
  1. Group Concerns/Good of the Group:  More discussion on the different scams that are going around.  We wished Val and Richard and Sue Bon Voyage on their upcoming trip to India!  Looking forward to seeing pictures upon their return.

Minutes of Meeting of February 4, 2016
  1. Call to Order: Iles : The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance @ 9:30am. Iles had a couple of announcements and jokes and then introduced our guest speaker for this meeting, Dr. Larissa Allen who is a gastroenterologist affiliated with NW Allied Physicians at NMC.  Dr. Allen gave a very informative talk.
  2. Host/Hostess:  Barb L. and Susan D.: Barb and Susan welcomed back those who have been gone for a while.  Barb reported on the greenhouse outing and that 12 folks attended.  If anyone would like to go, please see Barb.
  3. Vice-President:  Larry L.:  114 members and 62 attended today.
  4. Secretary:  Kristi G.: Minutes of last week were approved and accepted.
  5. Treasurer:  Carol:  We have a balance of $2,518.00.  Dues are due by the end of February!
  6. Coordinators’ Reports:
    1. Refreshments:    Coffee is $2.00 and refills are free.  Pastries are still $1.00 each.
    2. Sunshine:  Sandy P. and Alice K.: Gladys is home recovering from pneumonia.  Phyllis R. is now living in Tulsa in assisted living with family according to her son.  He will get us her address.
    3. Historian:  Magda:  No Magda today L
    4. Philanthropy:  Jim A. says he will make a trip out soon.
e.      Busybody:  Elaine H.:  Elaine asks that the new members please give her their emergency contact information.
f.        Activities:  Rose M. and Colleen T.: a.) Signup sheets for activities are available on the bar.   b.) If any members have suggestions about activities, please let Rose or Colleen know.
·         Saturday, February 13th:  Bardeen’s Arizona Opry in Apache Junction.  Talk to Rose about carpooling and plan on leaving here no later than 10:00 AM.
·         Sunday, February 14th:  Valentine’s lunch @ Hooter’s @ 12:30 PM.  Bring Valentine candy or cards if you wish.
·         Wednesday, February 17th:  Tucson Rodeo Museum Tour @ 11 AM.  Cost is $8 and lasts 2½ hrs.
·         Thursday, February 18th:  Tucson Rodeo Museum Tour @ 11 AM.  Cost is $8 and lasts 2½ hrs.
·         Friday, February 19th:  U of A vs. ASU Hockey game @ TCC – 260 S. Church Street @ 7:30 PM.  See Sue Rainey for tickets.
·         Friday, February 26th:  Lunch @ 1 @ Little Anthony’s followed by “The Cisco Kid”@ 3 PM. @ The Gaslight Theater.
7.       Group Concerns/Good of the Group:   Julie S. will take over taking the shampoo bottles, lotions, etc., and also says that next week will be the last week for gathering the cards to send off to St. Jude.  Kristi found out no more fraud seminars for now, they have all been completed.
