01/02/97..... Betty Bolin moved, Don Shkolnick seconded that we change dinner outings to Fridays. Passed.
01/03/97..... (1) Keaton's for Friday dinner, 14 people went. (2) A Biosphere trip had been suggested but the consensus was that it was too expensive for what one got. (3) A Thank-you card was read from the NW Fire Station for our help in the annual Haunted House at Halloween.
01/22/97..... Eight ladies started the project of making a quilt at Agnes MacDonald's house. Bob Vantrepotte and Al Taylor climbed Wasson Peak by a circuitous route.
01/23/97..... v Casa Grande trip to the ruins. Ate lunch in the area. µ
01/30/97..... Moved by Lew MacDonald and seconded by Betty Bolin, a motion passed that we NOT have visits from, or endorse any, political candidates. Woody Walp requested that this be recorded formally in the minutes and later in bylaws.
01/30/97..... (1) Introduced Jordon and Jan Mann. (2) James Mooty questioned the legality of us running Bingo for other residents in Continental Ranch. It was decided to shelve it.
01/31/97..... Free pasta dinner at Tucson Greyhound Park -- 22 went to the dogs!
02/04/97.....vTubac Film Festival.
02/06/97.....v Casino of the Sun.
02/09/97..... Dinner at Triple-C Chuck Wagon -- 22 went. Gene & Joan Beverly had suggested it. µ
02/11/97.....v Gem Show.
02/14/97..... Members attended Coyote Trail Appreciation Day. Lack of computer equipment was noted.
02/20/97..... (1) Betty reported that we made a profit of $48.50 at the Valentine's Dance at the center. (2) Presley Home Builders are purchasing a 48" TV for the center. (3) We had a potluck lunch.

03/01/97..... La Fuente Mexican Restaurant for dinner.
03/06/97.....v Reid Park Zoo trip. The new baby giraffe was beautiful.
03/13/97..... We had a nice meeting at Sahuarito Guest Ranch and had lunch there (we paid). µ
03/13/97..... Al Taylor announced that Spanish classes would be held on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 AM.
04/01/97..... We went to China Phoenix instead of the (planned) Golden Dragon for dinner. It was excellent.
04/03/97..... (1) Al Taylor introduced his brother Bob and sister-in-law Wildred. They donated $50 to the treasury. (2) Lew MacDonald presented the 1996 financials -- Net Worth Report, Checking Transactions Summary, Cash Box Activity, and Cash Flow Summary.

04/15/97..... Pima County Fair Senior Citizen Day.
04/17/97..... (1) Charlene Abbett was introduced. (2) Margie announced that she would be out of town until June -- Edna Coburn took over as Secretary.
04/24/97.....v Ft. Huachuca. We had a hot lunch at the Officer's club, arranged by Woody Walp.
05/01/97..... Sharon Price and Galen Jensen were introduced as members.
05/03/97..... Members sold refreshments at the Continental Ranch Craft Fair.
05/08/97.....v San Xavier Mission.
05/09/97..... Ilsa's Konditorei and Café for dinner.
05/15/97..... Betty announced that T-shirts would be delivered next week.
05/22/97.....v Saguaro National Park East.
05/29/97..... Discussion regarding becoming a service organization led to the decision that we remain a social group, taking on service items only as and when the membership desires.
06/06/97..... Salvatore's restaurant for dinner. 18 were to go.
06/19/97.....v Mission Mine tour -- south of Green Valley.
06/26/97..... Sharon Price announced that there would be more parking at the center next year! Ha!
07/10/97.....v To Mount Lemmon to beat the heat.
07/11/97..... Le Mediterranean Restaurant for dinner. Agnes and Bob belly danced. Good food, good entertainment.
07/17/97..... Introduced Mary Robinson.
07/31/97..... Betty announced that we made $71 profit at the "Christmas in July Bazaar".
08/01/97..... Pasta Bay Seafood Restaurant not being available, we went to China Phoenix for dinner.
09/05/97..... Michaelangelo's Restaurant for dinner -- 18 went.
09/11/97..... We decided that we would not use the Arts and Crafts Fair as a fundraiser.
09/18/97.....v Tumacacori and Tubac tour. Members had a delicious lunch at Tasha's Hacienda.
10/02/97.....v Willcox fruit and vegetable picking.
10/07/97..... Safe Harbor Hospice nurses put on a skit. “How to use humor to stay healthy.” Corny!
10/10/97..... Introduced Don & Marilyn Heller and Lillian Campani.
10/10/97..... A motion was passed to have the birthday cake merely say "Happy Birthday to All". After much discussion this was revoked and it was decided to leave it as is, i.e. with all the names and NO CANDLES to be blown out (germs!).
10/23/97.....v Casino of the Sun.
10/25/97..... Gaslight Theater and "The Sheik".
10/27/97.....v Jed's Rock Shop visit.
10/28/97..... J. Mann moved, G. Jensen seconded, motion passed, to meet at 9:30 instead of 10:00. A suggestion to have the business portion only once a month was not put to a vote.
11/06/97..... We decided to adopt a needy family, a single mother with two children.
11/13/97..... Introduced Lori & Dennis Matiatos the Glimsdahls and Griffins (both snowbirds).
11/20/97..... It was decided that we should buy games such as dominoes, Skip-Bo, Uno, etc.
11/20/97.....v Davis-Montham AFB tour including lunch purchased at the Officers' club.
11/20/97..... The needy single mother we would have helped changed her mind and we got a family with five children instead.
11/20/97..... Betty announced a profit of $133.90 from the fundraiser at the Arts and Crafts sale.
11/27/97..... 15 members attended an organized potluck Thanksgiving dinner at the center.
12/11/97.....v Miniature Horse Farm in Picture Rocks.
12/18/97..... The quilt was raffled and the winner announced. It went to our own Betty Bolin who had worked on the quilt, along with seven other ladies, for many months at Agnes's house,.
12/19/97..... Christmas dinner at the center. $10 or less generic gifts were exchanged and "stolen" from each other. Some people did not like the stealing feature, even though it was supposed to be in fun.
12/19/97..... Sandy Shkolnick resigned as Activities Chairperson. Replacement will come at the elections.
12/31/97..... New Years Eve party.
