S.C.R.C.R. TIME LINE FOR 2006

Trips, Dinners, Appointments, and Other Noteworthy Event

January 12: 40 present. (1) Visitors introduced: Rose (TX), Louise (NJ), Bunny (FL), and David & Georgine (Mexico).

January 27: (1) The monthly dinner was at Tony Roma’s on 11th. (2) A luncheon was held at Parilla Suiza on the 23rd.

February 16: 36 present. (1) New member Marie Fawcett was introduced. (2) 23 went to Arizona Opry; the entertainment was wonderful. (2) Edna talked about the bylaws revision, mostly schedule 501c7 status.

February 23: 40 present. (1) 16 went to Cibaria’s for dinner. (2) 22 went to the zoo v. (3) Bylaw changes were approved.

March 9: 45 present. (1) $51.65 was collected in memory of Lela Baskett who died earlier in February; she had been a member for several years. (2) The hikers went to Catalina State Park last week and to Alamo Springs this week. (3) Dennis talked about the band at the Civil War Enactment. (4) Karen mentioned property tax relief.

March 30: ?? present. (1) Vi lost her brother last week. (2) Eldon received a letter approving 501c7 application and stating that 35% of income could be from outside sources.

April 6: 36 present. (1) New member Bob Prokep was introduced. (2) Bo had neck surgery and Betty was having some more. (3) The mother of former member Jan Mann passed away last week. (4) The Elks new building is unavailable for Christmas dinner.

April 13: 34 present. (1) Walt said that a letter confirming 501c7 filing status would be given to Trish Ledbetter.

April 27: ?? present: (1) Alba Peart rejoined the club.

May 5: 36 present. (1) Cody Mothershed was introduced as a new member. (2) Frank reported that Lew and Agnes MacDonald were the number one donors to the SCRCR soldiers’ packages. (3) 16 went to Ghandi’s for dinner. (4) Arizona Opry will be booked for Valentine’s Day. (5) Eldon proposed and it was moved, seconded, and passed, that Frank Triumph be given $100 for gas expenses (for trips to the Marana Food Bank).

May 26: 24 present. (1) New member Jorge Ando was introduced, also Brenda Paul, Alba’s sister-in-law. (2) Don St. John had back surgery. (3) Lynn was in Sonoran Behavioral Center. (4) Don V has lost driving privileges (because of eyes). (5) (No comments in minutes) -- 9th: Held a potluck picnic at Madera Canyon. 14th: Mothers Day picnic at Picacho Peak. Contessa lunch postponed.

June 1: ?? present. (1) Lynn is home from hospital. (2) Sandy Padilla was to have surgery on Monday.

June 8: ?? present. (1) Sandy is better. No surgery was needed. (2) 18 saw Gnatman at Gaslight.

June 15: (1) Joan Gray was introduced. (2) Fathers Day brunch was to be at Red Sky Café. (3) Walt moved that we limit the club contribution for Christmas to $700 – tabled to next week. (4) Vi and Don celebrated their 4th anniversary.

June 22: (1) Ruby had her knee surgery. (2) 21 went to the Sky Rider Café. (3) 15 went to the Father’s Day Brunch.

June 29: (1) Linda had her back surgery. (2) 16 went to Michelangelo’s for good food but it was too busy on Friday. It was suggested that we avoid Fridays as this had been moved and passed before.

July 6: (1) Gloria Burgess and Jimmy Dixon were introduced. (2) A group went to Summerhaven and had a good time.

July 13: (1) Mike and Sue Rebro joined the club, as did Jimmy Dixon. (2) Lunch was at Carraba’s, a new restaurant; they opened specially for us.

July 27: (1) 23 people dined at the Outback and thoroughly enjoyed it. (2) A motion passed that a $15 fruit basket be given to members for a first and a smaller one for subsequent hospitalizations.

August 8: 50 present. (1) New members: Claire Bura and Irene Bogaski were introduced.

August 17: 47 present. (1) Russell Clanahan (sp?) was introduced. (2) Diane Van Horne gave a talk on personal safety and awareness. (3) Lunch was at the Firebirds Restaurant.

August 24: 31 present. (1) 15 enjoyed dinner at the Rose garden. (2) Joan M. announced that Casino del Sol would no longer provide a bus.

September 28: ?? present. (1) Ann Spencer was introduced. (2) Lunch was at Kannally Ranch. (3) Dinner was at Ole’s.

October 5: 43 present: Barbara Glaser was introduced.

October 12: 40 present. (1) Mike Rebro had knee surgery. (2) 37 went to the White Stallion dinner.
October 19: 37 present. (1) Shirley M. was undergoing surgery today. (2) Gene had an operation on his leg and was doing well. (3) 15 went to BJ Brewery for lunch. (4) Barbara H. reported that two key offices remained to be filled.

October 26: (1) Nominations: President:- Joan Travis-Triumph; Vice President:- Alice King; Secretary:- Lew MacDonald; Treasurer:- Ernie Krause; Hostess:- Mike and Sue Rebro; Refreshments:- Shirley Mead; Sunshine:- Mary Jensen; Philanthropy:- Frank Triumph; Activities:- Barbara Herron; Historian:- Magda Quiros. This slate was passed unanimously at a later meeting.

November 9: 37 present. (1) Introductions: Jane Stoesser and Kathryn & Larry Susi. (2) 15 went to Mayflower for dinner. (3) 38 are going to Gaslight then Mama Louise’s. (4) The Mesa swap meet was good. … Lew was having a new pacemaker installed today on an urgent basis. (5) Gene still has a severe infection in his leg.
November 30: 35 present. (1) Tony had heart by-pass surgery and is doing well. (2) A post card came from Italy from the Triumphs, Bricks, and St. Johns. (3) Vi and Carol are starting a TOPS club in the Urgent Care Center.
December 21: 25 present. (1) Carol Williams and Jim Hagemeier became members. (2) Rosemarie had eye surgery and Mary Mooney had a slight stroke. Frank Kells had a fall. (3) JoAnn moved that we hold a slight ceremony for new officers; motion passed.
Note: Many Thursdays are missed because there was no meeting (on trip days, etc.) or no significant events were recorded and/or forwarded in the minutes of that day.
