7.     Group Concerns/Good of the Group
·        Betty handed out brochures for Nunn Better, a company which does in-Home Pet Care
·        Magda expressed consternation about comments made by a bank teller that seemed condescending to seniors. Jorge reminded us that the people who serve us in banks and elsewhere often have a “script” they’re required to follow with each customer even when they don’t like it. But Magda is pretty sure that particular bank teller won’t run through that particular “script” the next time they meet.
  1. Thought of the Day:  Sandy gave us some particularly thoughtful words to live by.
  2. Adjournment:  Bill E.  The meeting ended at 9:59 AM.

  2. Hostesses Susan D. and Barb L.  Barb counted 55 members in attendance today!  We had some guests today, Joanne and Walt R. had their daughter and son-in-law in visiting from Minnesota.
  3. Vice-President:   Debbi S.:   Debbi reports we still have a total of 111 members.  Debbi and Barbara J. are working on the Emergency List and you’re your input people.  Please see Barbara or Debbi to update those numbers.  Thank you so much Deb for making the extra copies of the roster and birthday lists for those who don’t have a computer.
  4. Secretary:   Kristi G.:  The minutes for March 23, 2017 were approved.  I asked the group for volunteers to take over the secretarial position while I go away beginning in May and I’ll be back in June.  Cynthia will take a few weeks but I need others to help her cause I will be gone for 5 meetings.  Please let me know if you would be willing to step in for a week.  Thanks much.
  5. Treasurer:  Walt R.:  Walt reports we have $2,640.04 in the bank.  Walt brought up the 501-3C designation for the group and a discussion was had whether or not we should continue with it.  This would constitute a change in the by-laws so we are going to have further discussion on this subject.
  6. Coordinators’ Reports:
a.       Sunshine Dorie Z.:   Dorie reports her husband John’s knuckle surgery went well and he gets the bandages off on Monday.  Our dear Bea is here with us today and on the road to recovery.  Cheryl and Barc Walker however, are still battling their illnesses.   PLEASE do not call because it is very difficult for her to talk.  Just send e-mail, text, cards and most of all prayers for she and Barc.   Extra prayers please for the Walker household.   Elaine B. is still “out of commission” due to a bad fall she took and the doctors are going to put a heart monitor on her to check out her heart functions.  .  Craig S. said he went by Joey L. to check on her but no answer at her door.  Her phone is full so I think the only way to contact her now is by e-mail.   As of this writing Rich R., who was supposed to have a pacemaker put in last Friday and couldn’t because of the stupid insurance company, is again on the waiting list while the doctor submits another request to the stupid insurance company.  Larry L.’s hip replacement surgery is currently scheduled for May 2.  Let’s keep Larry in our prayers as well for a quick and pain free and problem free recovery! We must do lots and lots of prayers people, please and thank you
b.       Historian:  Magda Q.:  Thanked really everyone for the pull tabs once again. When she took all the tabs in that she collected this year, it amounted to 29 pounds!  A new record!  Magda did some cyphering and came up with it takes 1,267 tabs to make one pound so in that case with 29 pounds submitted, the collection consisted of 36,743 tabs from literally all over the world!!!!  Nice work people, let’s try to top that next year ðŸ˜Š
c.       Philanthropy:  John Z.:  Will be going next week to the food bank.
d.       Hiking:  Jim A.:  Jim reported they hiked at 7 Falls and it was beautiful especially the part where they got to put their poor tired feet in the nice cold water! ðŸ˜Š  Next week yet to be determined.
