Minutes of Meeting of Mar. 19, 2015
1. Call to Order: Iles opened the meeting at 9:30am with the Pledge of Allegiance, and then again shared some great jokes. Iles also announced that this meeting will be shortened due to the fact that The Station will be opening up to the public at 10:00 AM due to the U of A game.
2. Host/Hostess: Barb L. and Susan D.: Welcome back to Joan T. and Linda and all others who have been absent for a while. No new guests today.
3. Vice-President: Larry L.: We have 101 members. A new roster will be coming out in a few days.
4. Secretary: Jennette T.: Jeanne L. covered today for Jennette who has been ill. Minutes of 03/12/15 were approved and accepted. 41 members attended today.
5. Treasurer: Carol: Reported that the total treasury amount is at $2,226.00. $106.00 and 6# of food went to the Marana Food Bank so far this month. Carol also has 3 tickets for the Senior golf tournament which are free to anyone interested.
6. Coordinators’ Reports:
a. Refreshments: Coffee and pastries are 1.00 each
b. Sunshine: Nancy P a.) Tressie S. was in hospital for a couple of days but she is at home now and doing well. b.) Lily O. will be at Life Care Center in Rm 1134 for a few more weeks subsequent to a fracture in her left leg.
c. Historian: Magda: absent.
d. Philanthropy: John Z.: No further report today.
e. Busybody: Yvonne C.: Yvonne was absent today but Jim gave a report on the hike for this past week which was enjoyed by all who attended. Next week the hikers will venture out to Parker Canyon Lake followed by a trip to the winery.
7. Activities: Rose M.: a.) Please check the agenda for the tentative schedule. b.)Linda A. has 3 tickets left for the April 21st Gaslight production of Robin Hood. Checks should be made out to Linda. The dinner will be at Little Anthony’s but the time is yet to be determined.
8. Group Concerns/Good of the Group: No issues presented this week.
9. Thought of the Day: Sandy P.: Sandy closed the meeting with a couple of interesting “thoughts of the day”.

Meeting March 11, 2015
 
1.      Call to Order:   Iles W. opened the meeting at 9:30am with the Pledge of Allegiance. Shared some jokes.
2.      Host/Hostess:  Barb L. and Susan D. reported one new member, Bruce. Janet Kells was in attendance today. Today is Birthday celebrations (please sign cards).
3.      Vice-President:  Larry L.: We have tentatively 111 members (some members still catching up). 52 members in attendance.
4.      Secretary:  Jennette T.: Minutes of 03/05/2015 were approved and accepted.   
5.       Treasurer:  Carol was absent: Iles provided treasurer report. Current balance is $2226. More dues payments still pending.
6.      Coordinators’ Reports:
a.      Refreshments:   Coffee and pastries are 1.00 each.
b.      Sunshine:  Nancy P.: purchased numerous birthday cards and 2 get well cards.
c.      Historian:  Magda: mailing the pop top tabs for Ronald McDonald House today. She thanked all and asked that we all keep drinking for the next collection.
d.      Philanthropy: John Z.: no report this week.
e.      Busybody: Gladys P.: No changes this week.
7.      Activities: Rose M.: Book sale at the library on Saturday was canceled, upcoming  Rillito Race Track,St. Patrick’s Day dinner. AMARG Boneyard Tour @ Pima Air Museum (must pay ASAP to reserve tickets. Gas Light Theatre in April.  See Signup sheets. Further details on next page). Many positive comments were made about the Marana Police/K-9 unit tour. It is suggested we do it again when the police are up to it.
8.      Group Concerns/Good of the Group: a.) Jim A. stated the Town of Marana police could use volunteers. b.) Hiking club had their picnic yesterday with 24 attending. c.) Joyce G. presented useful information from Pima Council on Aging. Their publication Never Too Late is a wealth of information on support groups, caregiving , activities and much, much more. Minutes of Meeting of Mar. 5, 2015
1. Call to Order: Iles W. opened the meeting at 9:30am with the Pledge of Allegiance. Shared some jokes and a hissy tongue twister.
2. Host/Hostess: Barb L. and Susan D. reported no new members. Barb thanked all for the basket she received.
3. Vice-President: Larry L.: We have 111 members, 38 members in attendance.
4. Secretary: Jennette T.: Minutes of 02/26/2015 were approved and accepted.
5. Treasurer: Carol: provided treasurer report. Current balance is $1986. There are still checks to be deposited (waiting on last minute dues payments due today. ($24.00 per member). To date 93 have paid. 5 members are no fee (residing at assisted living) and 14 have not paid. Larry will be contacting those for a last chance to bring membership up to date .
6. Coordinators’ Reports:
a. Refreshments: Coffee and pastries are 1.00 each.
b. Sunshine: Nancy P.: was unable to attend but left update with Larry as follows: Lily broke her fibula and was in N.W. Hospital. She is now in Rm 1164 at LifeCare Center across street from NW. Saturday is her birthday. Cards/visits welcome. Lew advised us that Kay Peptis is back at the Fountains now (good news). Nancy delivered baskets.
c. Historian: Magda: ready to send the pop top tabs for Ronald McDonald House. She brought in a huge bag. She thanked all and asked that we all keep drinking for the next collection.
d. Philanthropy: John Z.: no report this week.
e. Busybody: Gladys P.: If there are any changes in a member’s emergency information or if you are going to be out of town for an extended period of time. Gladys noted she has received a good response.
7. Activities: Rose M.: Upcoming activities include, Marana Founders Day- Bus tour, book sale at the library on Saturday, Rillito Race Track,St. Patrick’s Day dinner. AMARG Boneyard Tour @ Pima Air Museum (must pay ASAP to reserve tickets. Gas Light Theatre is in April. See Signup sheets. Further details on next page).
8. Group Concerns/Good of the Group: a.) Members commented again to be on the lookout for unsolicited individuals coming around offering home repairs. Some are real and some are scammers. If in doubt check it out before letting someone into your home. b.) Jim A. reported on the hike to Madera Canyon (6 miles). All hikers past and present will have a picnic on 3/11/15. Bring your own lunch at Silverbell Lake. c.) Edna mentioned her use of a driving school for a fee to obtain a speedy license renewal to avoid long DMV lines. Others suggested requesting Senior/Disabled status at motor vehicle. This will get you to prompt service. d.) Rose reminded all volunteers are always needed at the Library.

Minutes of Meeting of Feb.25, 2015
1. Call to Order: Iles W. opened the meeting at 9:30am with the Pledge of Allegiance. Shared some jokes.
2. Host/Hostess: Barb L. and Susan D. reported Arnie Anderson brought his daughter in law Kathleen as a guest. We had another mystery guest known as Bruce. Susan announced her old house is for sale. Barb will be undergoing same day surgery tomorrow. Goodbye gall bladder.
3. Vice-President: Larry L.: We have 111 members, 50 members in attendance.
4. Secretary: Jennette T.: Minutes of 02/019/2015 were approved and accepted.
5. Treasurer: Carol: provided detailed treasurer report. Current balance is $1986. There are checks to be deposited (waiting on last minute dues payment due end of month. ($24.00 per member).
6. Coordinators’ Reports:
a. Refreshments: Coffee and pastries are 1.00 each.
b. Sunshine: Nancy P.: Stan Stein is taking it day by day and enjoys receiving cards. Janet Kells is back home and doing better. Richard Blehm has had a long bout of flu.
c. Historian: Magda: absent today.
d. Philanthropy: John Z.: no report this week.
e. Busybody: Gladys P.: If there are any changes in a member’s emergency information or if you are going to be out of town for an extended period of time. Gladys noted she has received a good response.
7. Activities: Rose M.: Upcoming activities include Senior Safari Day at Reid Zoo, Rillito Race Track, Police station tour, Toy show, and St. Patrick’s Day dinner. 8. Group Concerns/Good of the Group: a.) It was decided that a meeting will be held 3/5 (next week) for those that will not be going to the Sr. Day at the Zoo. b.) Yvonne reported on hike at Wasson Peak. There was a long and short version. 15 hikers attended. Some were greeted by a Rattler on the way back. Hikers will be having their own picnic on 3/11/15. Bring your own lunch at Silverbell Lake. Future hikes will be contingent on weather. See Yvonne’s blog. c.) some members made note to be on the alert for people approaching homeowners for home repairs. These individuals are aggressive and do not take no for an answer. It is felt these individuals are scammers and we should be on guard. d.) Several members took up on suggestion to “cowboy up” today in spirit of the Rodeo. Showing off our cowboy hats, boots, shirts and belts.
