Minutes of Meeting for June 14, 2018

Minutes of Meeting for June 14, 2018

  1. Call to Order:   Bill E.  led us in the Pledge and then we sang God Bless America.  Bill then turned the meeting over to Barb and Susan.
  2. Hostesses:  Barb L. and Susan D.  Barbara and Susan report 38 in attendance today and Susan gave a quick report on “SCRCR North”.  The best part about SCRCR North are Dorie’s Minutes.  They are hilarious!  I can’t compete 😊
  3. Vice President:   Debbi S.:  No Debbi today but there are still 110 members.
  4. Secretary:   Kristi G.:   No corrections to the minutes and they were accepted.
  5. Treasurer:  Walt R.:   Walt reports $2,256.45 in the bank.   WE WERE $18.00 SHORT THIS WEEK.  Please people, remember to put your money in the pot for coffee “and”.  It’s $2.00 for a cup of coffee which includes all refills; $1.00 for sweets. Thanks much.
  6. Coordinators’ Reports:
Sunshine Mary M.:  Mary wasn’t here today (hope you are OK Mary) but Sharon reiterated about Elaine being in rehab and hopefully able to come home this weekend and that she thanked everyone for the cards and phone calls.  Unfortunately Rose still has a kidney stone that won’t leave her, but finally has some control over the pain and discomfort.  Phone calls and cards are most appreciated.
·         Historian:  Magda Q.:   No report, but thanks for the tabs and she still expects lots of them to come back from the mountains with SCRCR North people upon their return 😊
·         Philanthropy:    No report but Sandy and Tony are still collecting money for the food bank.
·         Activities:  See activities listed below.  Note:  When you sign up for an activity, please let whoever oversees that activity know whether or not you’ll make it.  It’s embarrassing if you tell a place that 30 or 40 folks are coming to a function, so they set up for that, get extra help for that and then only 20 or so show up.    Please remember to RSVP if you are going to attend something and to let the person in charge know if you can’t make it.  Thanks.

·         Bill introduced the birthday folks who were here today and those that wanted to, gave a brief bio of themselves.

  1. Group Concerns/Good of the Group

  • Our June food drive was today, and I took everything up to the station.  They were all so very happy to receive your most generous gifts of food and drinks.   Since so many are gone for the summer, there was a discussion about the timing of this.  The conclusion was that we will do the food drive for the Marana Police Department in January and the Marana Fire Department in March or April.  Reasons are two-fold.  #1 of course is that so many aren’t here and #2, it’s too dang hot in June to be hauling perishable food around.
  • Joanne Ross still has the Who’s Who books and the latest page to be added for whoever needs one.
  • Iles told us that Larry will be going in for neck surgery on July 16th.  Let’s please keep Larry in our prayers.

  1. Thought for the Day:  Sandy P.  As always, Sandy had a great thought for the day and a cute joke but unfortunately no copies for me to add to the minutes this week.
  2. Adjournment:  Bill E.: Bill adjourned the meeting at 10:05 AM and then we had birthday cake.
