Minutes of Meeting Held June 18, 2009

1. Call to Order: President Joan Travis-Triumph. In Joan’s absence, Jim opened the meeting at 9:30 a.m. and led the pledge of allegiance. Thirty-seven people were present.

2. Host/Hostess: Ed & Collette: Welcomed back were, Elaine B., Margie, Mary T., and Jeanne.

3. Vice-President: Jim: Chaired the meeting.

4. Secretary: Lew: Last week’s minutes were accepted as written.

5. Treasurer: Walt: Financial status: Checking: $827, Cash: $22, Total: $849. (No extra-ordinary expense was incurred in the past week.)

6. Coordinators Reports:

6.1 Refreshments: Jan & Linda A.: Today’s refreshments were by JoAnn & Walt with Kay. (If unable to help as scheduled, please let Linda or Jan know by Tuesday, if possible.)

6.2 Sunshine: John & Linda D. JoAnn reports: (a) Elaine S. is home now and recovering slowly. She describes her last episode as Hell. ….. (b) Stan is back at home now after his knee surgery and is already walking with a cane. ….. Please call if you hear of any health issues.

6.3 Philanthropy: Betty: (a) Not enough was collected to be delivered to the Food Bank. It was suggested that we collect manufacturer coupons for the military; evidently they are acceptable at commissaries even if out of date as much as six months. John and Nancy Lambert contributed a bunch of stuff for the military.

6.4 Activities: Alice B. See the attached agenda for events in the next few weeks.

7. Old and/or New Business: None.

8. Good of the Group: (a) Betty will be absent on 10-July, so the Casino trip will be the following Friday, the 17th. ….. (b) Gladys reiterated her request for us to sign in for her 80th birthday celebration; she needs to know approximately how many will be coming on 25-July. ….. (c) A card of thanks from Stan and Suzette was read by Jim. ….. (d) Ed A. thanked Jim for his efforts in getting the ramps fixed; Jim said that he would inquire about getting them painted and other improvements, maybe by SCRCR volunteers. Jim will meet with Sarah regarding that and, at the same time, convey the appreciation of SCRCR for their quick action along with the HOA staff. Jim has some pictures that he will present next week. ….. (e) In a discussion about a good diet, Betty postulated that a bucket of pop-corn at the movie theater contains as much fat as four McDonald hamburgers! ….. (f) Fathers Day brunches at Luna Bella were enjoyed by all. ….. (g) Barbara H. explained the fireworks display on July-4 near the library. Betty said that the Desert Son church on Cortaro has a free BBQ starting at 6 PM; donations are appreciated. Joan M. said that the Lord of Grace church has a similar arrangement. ….. (i) Walt told us that the plaque would be returned (amended) next week.
