Minutes of Meeting Held June 18, 2009

1. Call to Order: President Joan Travis-Triumph opened the meeting at 9:30 a.m. and led the pledge of allegiance. Forty people were present.

2. Host/Hostess: Ed & Collette: No report.

3. Vice-President: Jim: A new roster was issued; we have 68 members. Jim had to chase a dove out of the house; now he is going to get a security door.

4. Secretary: Lew: Last week’s minutes were accepted as written.

5. Treasurer: Walt: Financial status: Checking: $802, Cash: $22, Total: $824 – no change! (One extra-ordinary expense today was $32.89 for badge material.)

6. Coordinators Reports:

6.1 Refreshments: Jan & Linda A.: Today’s refreshments were by Sandy & Tony with Alice. (If unable to help as scheduled, please let Linda or Jan know by Tuesday, if possible.)

6.2 Sunshine: John & Linda D. (a) Elaine is home now and recovering slowly. ….. (b) Don Brick continued to recover slowly from Swine Flu. ….. (c) Stan is still in hospital but is doing OK. ….. (d) Linda D. met Ernie and he looked good. ….. (e) Bonnie reported that Pearl Thompson had died on 22nd May at the age of 88; she was one of the founders of SCRCR. ….. Please call if you hear of any health issues.

6.3 Philanthropy: Betty: (a) Thirty-two pounds and $10 were delivered to the Food Bank. It was suggested that we collect manufacturer coupons for the military; evidently they are acceptable at commissaries even if out of date.

6.4 Activities: Alice B. See the attached agenda for events in the next few weeks.

7. Old and/or New Business: None.

8. Good of the Group: (a) Joan T. related some scams being incurred at gas stations in Georgia. To check the accuracy of a gas pump, add exactly 10 gallons and the cost should correspond with the cost per gallon times 10. Lew suggested getting gas at Costco; it is reliable and is always the cheapest in town, sometimes as much as 10 cents per gallon lower than our local stations. ..… (b) Betty will be absent on 7-July, so the Casino trip will be the following Friday, the 14th. ….. (c) Gladys asked us to sign in for her 80th birthday celebration; she needs to know approximately how many will be coming on 25-July. ….. (d) Alice B. said that twenty-one members enjoyed excellent food and service at the Outback.
