Minutes of Meeting for June 30, 2016

Minutes of Meeting for June 30, 2016
1.       Call to Order:   Iles started this session at 9:30am with the Pledge of Allegiance and the group sang God Bless America. Iles followed up with some great jokes.  Iles reminded everyone of the cost of the coffee ($2.00 with free refills) and fruit and pastries ($1.00 each).  Also, the fact that we pay The Station $50.00 a week to meet there and with all the snowbirds gone, we don’t usually make the $50.00 which we then have to take out of our treasury. So please remember to “ante up” J
2.        Host/Hostess:  Barb L. welcomed two more new possible members – Margaret and Shawn.   We had 31 in attendance today.
3.       Vice-President:   Larry L.:  111 SCRCR members total.
4.       Secretary:   Kristi G.:  Minutes for June 23, 2016 were approved and accepted.
5.       Treasurer:  Carol A.:   No Carol today, so no report.
6.      Coordinators’ Reports:
a.       Sunshine Sandy P.:  Susan is still recovering albeit not as quickly as we’d all love to see her happy, smiling face back here!  We miss you Susan, very much!!!  Carol is doing well after her procedure.
b.      Historian:  Magda:  Thanked everyone once again for the pull tabs from cans for the Ronald McDonald House and also wanted to remind everyone of  “Where Are They Now” and to let her know about any past members or folks who can’t make the meetings anymore.
c.       Philanthropy: Walt R.  Walt will take what’s been collected to the food bank.
d.      Busybody: Elaine H.:  No report but did say that after not making a couple of meetings due to doctor appointments, she realized how much she missed the group and the laughter when not here.  I think we can all identify with that – one morning a week where we can forget all worries, problems, whatever and just enjoy being together.
e.       Activities:  Rose M.: reported on the schedule of activities (see below).
7.      Group Concerns/Good of the Group: Kristi again brought in the applications for the Citizens Police Academy which starts September 7th, as well as applications for the “Ride-Along” program.  Also a reminder to everyone that not only does Magda collect the pull tabs from cans, but she also collects towels, blankets, etc., for Project Hope which saves cats from being out on the street or euthanized.  Joey L. also collects the grocery bags, towels, pillows, and blankets for the Pima County Animal Shelter.  Sandy P. collects the “Boxtops for Education” that you will find on boxes, soup cans, etc.  Julie S. collects the little hotel/motel size bottles of shampoos, conditioners, lotions, soaps, etc. for those less fortunate, as well as the front part of Christmas cards and Greeting cards for another worthy charity who’s name escapes me at the moment, sorry.  I know someone will tell me what it is……please J
8.       Thought of the Day: Sandy P. closed the meeting with a great thought along with a great joke.
9.       Adjournment: Iles W.:  The meeting was adjourned around 10ish.
