1. Call to Order: Bill E. led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and we sang God Bless America. Bill E. then introduced Barb.
2. Hostesses: Susan D. and Barb L.: Susan and Gene are still under the weather and were not present. Barb counted 33 members in attendance.
3. Vice-President: Debbi S.: Debbi reports we still have a total of 112 members. We had several great jokes from Bill E., Iles W., Jim A, and Debbi S. Iles also shared a little of his and Jada’s recent trip to South Africa. He reports that the people are very friendly and happy and they enjoyed seeing new cultures and sights.
4. Secretary: Debbi S. sat in for Kristi G.: Cynthia D.M. did a fabulous job with last week’s minutes and they were approved.
5. Treasurer: Walt R.: Walt reported we have a total of $2,416.37 in the bank.
6. Coordinators’ Reports:
a. Sunshine: Sandy P.: Sandy reported that Hilde’s car was badly rear-ended on Tues. afternoon and her car was pushed into the car ahead of her, causing a 3-car accident. Hilde suffered a broken left thumb when the airbags deployed. Unfortunately, her car was totaled in the accident. Thankfully, the injuries were not life threatening and she and her sister are healing from stiff and achy bodies.
b. Historian: Magda Q.: Since some of the jokes today centered around being pregnant, Magda shared a funny story about when she was pregnant.
c. Philanthropy: Jorge reported that he has $125 in checks and $20 in cash to take to the
Food Bank at the end of the month.
d. Hiking: Jim A.: No report as the hiking is over until fall.
e. Activities: Pam M.: Pam reviewed all of the upcoming activities that are listed below. As always, sign-up sheets are at the bar every week.
7. Group Concerns/Good of the Group: JoAnn R. reported that she has all of the pages of the “Who’s Who” book if anyone is missing any. She also shared that if your driver’s license is coming due for renewal, it is good to know that a new license will be required in Oct. of 2020 which can be gotten now. It will be required to get into airports, on planes and into Federal buildings. The fee is $25 and lasts for 8 years. You must apply in person and provide an original birth certificate or valid passport, a Social Security card or recent W2, a credit card or utility bill to give proof of residence. For more information, go to AZDOT.gov/travelID
8. Thought of the Day: Sandy gave us some particularly thoughtful words to live by and, of course, a zinger.
9. Adjournment: Bill E. The meeting ended at 10:06 AM.
