1. Call to Order: Bill E. led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and we sang God Bless America. Bill E. then introduced Barb and Susan.
2. Hostesses: Susan D. and Barb L.: Barb L. introduced a new member, Suzi Benjamin, to the group. We had 42 in attendance, which is a great number for the summer months.
3. Vice-President: Debbi S.: Debbi reports we now have a total of 113 members.
4. Secretary: Debbi S. sat in for Kristi G (who will be returning to us next week): There were no minutes from the June 1st meeting so nothing to approve.
5. Treasurer: Walt R.: Walt reported we have a total of $2,669.23 in the bank.
6. Birthdays: Bill E. Introduced all of the birthday people and each told a little about themselves with some very funny life stories.
7. Coordinators’ Reports:
a. Sunshine: Sandy P.: Sandy reports that Bo Bolin is in the hospital. Walt R. stopped in to see him and he was alert and in good spirits. Please keep Bo & Betty in your prayers.
b. Historian: Magda Q.: No report
c. Philanthropy: Jorge A. encouraged donations to the Marana Food Bank.
d. Hiking: Jim A.: No report as the hiking is over until fall.
e. Activities: Pam M.: Pam reviewed all of the upcoming activities that are listed below. As always, sign-up sheets are at the bar every week. Bill followed up with some funny jokes. We had 23 people who stayed after the meeting to play cards, visit, and have lunch. A very good turn out to support The Station. We will be doing that again next month.
8. Group Concerns/Good of the Group: Bill E. has copies of the new law being required for new drivers licenses by Oct 2020. They will be needed to get into airports, on to planes and into federal buildings. For more information, go to AZDOT.gov/travelID. Susan D. shared that she and Gene had gone on a tour of the new Mormon Temple on Skyline. It is gorgeous inside and there were hundreds of volunteers to answer any questions. If interested, check with Susan because you have to park at a different location and take a shuttle to the temple. The tours run throughout the month. You need to go to the website for more information and to sign up, templeopenhouse.lds.org. Jorge A. talked to Richard Roberts. He and Val are having fun in San Diego. They will be going to Seattle in another month and will then be coming home.
9. Thought of the Day: Sandy gave us some particularly thoughtful words to live by and, of course, a very funny zinger.
10. Adjournment: Bill E. The meeting ended at 10:09 AM.
