2. Hostesses: Barb L. and Susan D. Barb counted 49 folks in attendance today - that’s awesome! Mike and Vicki are back in between trips. Carol A. was back as well as Paul B. We have a report that Joan Travis Triumph will be back visiting and will be at a couple of the meetings hopefully. It will be good to see her!
3. Vice President: Debi S. reports 117 members.
4. Secretary: Kristi G.: The minutes for the September 14th meeting were approved. I asked if I could remove the “Blog” at the top of the page as no one is keeping it current. It was okayed that I remove it.
5. Treasurer: Walt R.: He reports a total of $2,017.04 with $16.65 of that total in petty cash. The two checks for $300 each will be sent out this week for the Texas and the Florida food banks.
Let’s try to remember to put our money in the pot for coffee “and”. It’s $2.00 for a cup of coffee which includes all refills; $1.00 for sweets. Thanks much.
6. Coordinators’ Reports:
o Sunshine: Dorie Z.: We are now up to 11 weeks without anyone being sick that we know of. Please be sure to let Dorie know if you know of anyone that is not feeling well or needs a little sunshine from us. We need to keep Gladys in our prayers as she is experiencing some discomfort from some of the medications she had to take for the eye surgery.
o Historian: Magda Q.: Magda asked that we pray for all the people in Mexico who are suffering from the earthquakes.
o Philanthropy: John Z.: No report but the holidays are coming so John asked that we check our pantries for items we can bring in for the food bank and to keep the contributions coming. The need will be even more so with the holidays.
o Hiking: Jim A.: No report as the hiking is over until fall
o Activities: See activities list below.
7. Group Concerns/Good of the Group
We also were asked by Maria and Pedro for our prayers for all the people in Puerto Rico who are suffering from the after effects of the hurricane.
We have a nominating committee made up of Cynthia Dagnal-Myron, Magda and tada, one of the “new kids” Gail Cocker stepped up and said she would help out as well. We are hopeful Jim Alam will chair this group when he and Linda return from their travels. Put your thinking caps on and either tell one of these 4 folks in person or via e-mail who you would like to see on the Board next year. There is the President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary seats open for voting as well as an Activities Coordinator.
Armando is asking if anyone knows of someone who can repair a Vita-Mixer blender.
Dorie told us the Pima Counsel on Aging is offering some classes on balance and falling and how to try to avoid that. The Pima County Counsel on Aging has scads of information for Seniors on just about everything we would have questions on.
Marie will be away for 3 months and asked if someone would step up and do the birthday cakes for that time and Cheryl W. graciously volunteered to do that – thanks so much Cheryl!!!! 😊
Val R. told us of her and Rich’s friend Dan Hesston who is doing a 24 hour run November 17-18 along with the 100 Mile El Tour de Tucson. This is to benefit the Community Food bank and you can make a donation at communityfoodbank.org/Dans-Run.
8. Thought of the Day: Sandy P. had a great thought for the day and a hilarious joke.
9. Adjournment: Bill E. ended the meeting at 10:03 AM

5.      Treasurer:  Walt R.:    He reports a total of $2,130.77 with $16.65 of that total in petty cash.  Walt says we have enough money in the bank to help Texas and Florida hurricane victims.  We had enough folks for a quorum so we all voted to send $300.00 to Texas Hunger Relief and $300.00 to Florida Hunger Relief.  Walt will let us know when that has been completed.
Let’s try to remember to put our money in the pot for coffee “and”.  It’s $2.00 for a cup of coffee which includes all refills; $1.00 for sweets. Thanks much.
6.      Coordinators’ Reports:
o   Sunshine Dorie Z.:   We are now up to 10 weeks without anyone being sick that we know of people, that’s super!!  Please be sure to let Dorie know if you know of anyone that is not feeling well or needs a little sunshine from us.  Dorie reports that Gladys had her eye surgery and it went well, so well in fact that Gladys was with us today!  So happy for her that the surgery is over and she is on the road to recovery. George S.  is doing better from his surgery.  Time and patience and lots of prayers for you both.

o   Hiking:  Jim A.:  No report as the hiking is over until fall
o   Activities:     See activities list below.
7.      Group Concerns/Good of the Group
*      Larry L. brought up about the scammers again and how these jerks get into our computers.  You might see a pop-up on the computer that says “Stop - your computer has been compromised and we can fix it for you and just call this number and they say they are Microsoft but they aren’t. Microsoft WILL NOT contact you this way ever.  DO NOT OPEN this message ever.  That’s how they get in to your computer and steal all your information.
*      Bill E. also talked about the Experian credit bureau breech and we all need to be wary of that one as well.  You can freeze your credit cards so that no one can get that information.  Bill has sent out various ways of contacting the different credit bureaus to do this.
*      We are still looking for an Activities Coordinator as well as folks for our nominating committee.  The nominating committee is usually made up of about 3-4 folks who will take nominations from the group as to who they would like to see on the Board in the next year.  The nominating committee in turn will present those names to the Board and we will all need to vote on them in October.  We have two members who have volunteered so far so hopefully by next meeting we will have the nominating committee in place.  We’d sure like to get some of our new members involved, hint, hint, hint ðŸ˜Š
*      We were again reminded by (sorry, I forgot who) that Cortaro and Ina will both be torn up at the same time although the Cortaro project will hopefully be completed by December.  Hello Twin Peaks!
*       Val R. asked for folks to help with the Christmas decorations for our annual party on the 19thof December.  We will meet at Val and Richard’s to make the decorations.  More info to follow as time draws nearer.
*      Marie came up and introduced the birthday folks and she brought a yummy chocolate birthday cake for all to share.

8.      Thought of the Day:  Sandy P. had a very good heartwarming thought for the day and a cute joke.

9.       Adjournment:  Bill E. ended the meeting at 10:27 AM.
