2000 Officers: Galen Jensen -- President; Pat Senick – Secretary until 3/28 then Lew MacDonald; Gene Sirak – Treasurer. Coordinators: Vi Johnson and Marlene Pfeuffer -- Activities; Arline Sieckowski – Sunshine; Mary Taylor and Suzette Stein – Hostess; Pearl Thomson – Philanthropy; Agnes MacDonald – Kitchen.
01/08/00..... Dinner at Hidden Valley Inn, 8 went.
01/20/00..... Thank-you cards read from Dignita Hospice for $450 donations from members in Gene Beverly's name and from Suzette for condolences in the loss of her mother.
02/01/00..... Lee Ciancio had both knees operated upon.
02/02/00.....v Gem Show.
02/03/00..... Dinner at Metropolitan Grill. About 17 attended -- very good food, excellent service.
02/10/00.....v Tubac Festival .
02/17/00..... Introduced Micha & Tom Rudkin and Al Kellman & Cleo Frye.
02/19/00..... Miss Saigon play at Centennial Hall, 26 went. Dinner at Old Lantern -- good food, bad service!
03/02/00.....v Reid Park Zoo Senior's Day.
03/04/00..... Dinner at Mimi's was enjoyed by 17 members. Good food and excellent service.
03/09/00.....v Desert Museum , 6 went and had a good time.
03/16/00..... Joan Beverly was welcomed back to the club. Don Ostberg joined.
03/23/00..... It was noted that Suzanne would have gall bladder surgery in April. Agnes is due for foot surgery.
03/28/00…. Pat Senick resigned as Secretary and moved to Green Valley. Lew MacDonald took over.
03/30/00..... Dutch treat Pizza instead of Ft. Huachuca .
04/01/00..... Dinner at Conti's. Hassles with an uncooperative waiter re separate checks. Manager straightened it out.
04/13/00.....v Casino of the Sun . Betty, Mary, & Al won but Magda was the big winner at $1,000.
04/26/00..... Seniors' Day at Pima County Fair.
05/03/00..... Arline resigned to look after her mother. Mary Taylor undergoing knee surgery today.
05/03/00..... Bingo was scheduled but there were too few members, so we played games.
05/05/00..... El Corral for dinner.
05/10/00.....v Amerind Museum and picnic lunch there.
05/11/00..... Introduced Mary Jensen.
05/19/00..... Games and lunch at the new Marana Senior Center. Taught them Mexican Train, etc.
05/24/00.....v Bisbee .
05/25/00..... Introduced Fay & Ray Spitzer, Kathryn Peptis, and Marian Saville.
06/01/00.....v Visited San Xavier Mission. Lunch at La Puente; excellent Mexican restaurant. Return there!
06/07/00..... J-Bar Ranch dinner was an embarrassment, no one showed up! Kathryn Peptis joined.
06/15/00.....v Agua Caliente Park brunch picnic. It was hot but 14 went. Worth visiting at a cooler time.
06/22/00..... Jordon Mann was having eye trouble but he hoped to return soon.
06/24/00..... Members invited to awards ceremony where Bo Bolin got his B.Sc. degree.
07/01/00..... Tucson Greyhound Track dinner and races. No big winners. Excellent T-bone steaks for $5.95.
07/13/00.....v Casino of the Sun, 17 went on . Several winners; Magda won $1,000.
07/27/00.....v Kartchner Caverns , 9 went.
08/03/00..... Arline recovering from her operation. Pearl having a new pacemaker battery installed.
08/05/00..... Ray and Lee's 50th wedding anniversary party. And some said it wouldn't last! µ
08/09/00..... El Corral dinner, only 6 went. Some had excellent service; others had overcooked ribs and stale salad.
08/10/00..... Baseball game. No one went to the scheduled event.
08/17/00.....v Kitt Peak , 10 went and spent an hour making a hike.
08/24/00..... Stan, suffering from severe sciatic pain, will see a specialist.
09/01/00…. Colette & Ed Dubsky joined.
09/09/00..... Hidden Valley Inn for dinner.
09/14/00.....v Wilcox to pick fruit.
09/21/00.....v Night visit to Oktoberfest.
10/02/00..... Pearl Thompson resigned from the Philanthropy job. Willie broke her pelvis. No volunteers for the job.
10/12/00.....v Christopher Columbus Park picnic. It had been wet and cold so only 7 went but it was a good day. Seven others stayed in the center.
10/19/00..... Because of constant thievery in the old closets in the kitchen, we were given all the closets on the right -- with new locks. It was voted that the person making the coffee would also supply snacks on potluck lunch days but not on brunch days or birthday cake days. Cookies would be available for early birds.
10/26/00.....v Casino of the Sun , 17 went.
11/04/00..... Michaelangelo's for dinner.
11/10/00.....v Mesa swap meet .
11/15/00..... Bo found out that former member Vern Fitzpatrick had died recently.
11/30/00..... Introduced Ernest Kreth and Sam Russell.
12/07/00.....v Vail winery scheduled. It was great success.
12/09/00..... Christmas dinner and party, co-chairpersons Vi Johnson and Marlene Pfeuffer. We exchanged $10 children's gifts which were later donated to the Fire Hall for "Toys for Tots" -- a good idea! µ
12/14/00..... Pearl was given a present and thanks for all she has done for helping needy families.

05/01/99..... Valley of the Moon tour, then dinner at Mountain View Restaurant.
05/13/99.....v Agua Caliente Park picnic lunch. About 15 went. It is a very nice place.
05/15/99..... Revisions to bylaws and job descriptions approved.
05/20/99..... Wheeler Abbett added as member.
06/03/99.....v Madera Canyon.
06/05/99..... Rose Garden for a Chinese dinner. The buffet is better than the table menu.
06/18/99..... Hot Rod Lincoln at the Gaslight Theater.
06/24/99.....v Fort Huachuca and lunch at the officers' mess.
07/08/99.....v Phoenix trip for the whole day. Lunch, shopping, casino.
07/10/99..... El Parador for a Mexican dinner.
07/29/99.....v Mt. Lemmon.
07/30/99..... Agnes MacDonald (ex-Canadian) became an American Citizen after almost two years of effort.
08/07/99..... Le Mediterranean for a continental dinner.
08/26/99.....v Casino of the Sun. Magda and Marlene were winners.
08/29/99..... Party in Lew & Agnes's house for Agnes becoming a citizen. 43 attended. Vi Johnson announced that Agnes would later be presented with an American flag on behalf of the club.
11/15/99..... 23 went to the opera. Only half the members enjoyed it but all said that it was too long!
11/20/99..... After 2-1/2 years service, Betty declined nomination as Activities Coordinator for 2000. Lew also declined, after 4 years service in various offices.
12/09/99..... Vi presented Agnes with a U.S. flag that had been flown over the Capitol, forwarded by Jim Kolbe.
12/11/99..... Christmas dinner and party. Children's gifts worth $10 or less were exchanged. At the end all gifts were collected and donated to needy children such as the "Toys for Tots" drive run by the fire department.

01/09/98..... Triple-C Chuck Wagon for dinner. About 30 attended.
01/15/98..... vCasino of the Sun trip. Canceled, not enough interest.
01/15/98..... Amendments to bylaws and job descriptions approved.
01/22/98..... Contribution sent to the Cancer Society in memory of a popular member, the late Woody Walp.
02/05/98..... Ghost Ranch Lodge for dinner.
02/12/98..... vTucson Gem Show. Lunch at Carlos Murphy's.
02/19/98..... vFiesta de los Vaqueros Rodeo.
02/26/98..... (1) Introduced Fred & Mary Lee Kopesky. (2) Due to disappointment with service at Ghost Ranch Lodge it was suggested that we should have a performance card for each event. This was turned down because some people actually liked the service. We will just not vote to go to undesirable places.
03/05/98..... Gaslight Theater, 24 went. Dinner at Macayo's, 19 went.
03/05/98..... vReid Park Zoo trip, 6 went.
03/12/98..... Introduced Otto & Ilse Bayer.
03/14/98..... vCivil War Reenactment at Picacho Peak. 8 adults with 4 children went. Al T. & Bob V. climbed the peak.
03/19/98..... vBisbee trip 10 went.
03/22/98..... vLaughlin trip. Members provided taxi service for 10 going (to avoid leaving cars overnight).
04/02/98..... vCasino of the Sun, 14 went.
04/03/98..... Metropolitan Grill for dinner, 10 went.
04/09/98..... vPima County Fair Senior Citizen Day.
04/30/98..... vChristopher Columbus Park for picnic lunch. Activities were fishing, horseshoes, & table games.
05/01/98..... Silverado restaurant for dinner. Fair!
05/14/98..... vMadera Canyon picnic.
05/21/98..... Member Fred Williams died on 19th May. A check was sent to the Cancer Society.
05/21/98..... CRCA had a delivery emergency, so 15 members volunteered and stuffed 1,600 Windmill packages with 13 inserts in 2 hours. We had been doing this for several months.
05/23/98..... Gaslight Theater for Sherlock Holmes. Dinner at Macayo's.
05/28/98..... vAmerind Foundation Museum trip.
06/04/98..... A thank you note for our condolences on Fred's demise was read from Louise Williams
06/05/98..... Charles Restaurant for early bird dinner, 14 went. It was expensive but great.
06/11/98..... vWild Life Museum trip. Lunch in cafeteria. Five went.
06/25/98..... vCasino of the Sun. Marlene was the big winner.
07/06/98..... vKitt Peak trip. No one went.
07/10/98..... China Phoenix dinner, 12 went.
07/23/98..... vUA "Path of Life" tour. Lunch out. Six people went and lunched after at Momma's Pizza.
07/30/98..... Today was to be a luncheon in Lee & Ray's honor as they were leaving for Phoenix but they could not attend. A Barnes & Noble gift certificate was to be given to them instead.
08/01/98..... Gaslight Theater for "Beach Blanket Bebop". Dinner at Macayo's.
08/07/98..... Cibaria's for dinner, 16 went.
08/13/98..... A signup sheet was prepared for food delivery for Galen who had been disabled in an accident.
08/27/98..... Decided to provide food to Galen for two more weeks.
09/03/98..... vCasino of the Sun. Several winners.
09/05/98..... vBaseball at Tucson Electric Park. Rained out but a good dinner was had at La Fuente.
09/10/98..... Introduced Hal & Mary Fritz. Marge welcomed home after absence.
09/12/98..... vWillcox trip for fruit and vegetables was a success.
10/02/98..... vTucson Greyhound Park for dinner and races, 10 went. Food was good in their new restaurant.
10/08/98..... vDeGrazia Gallery trip and lunch out. After lunch, we visited Indian Territory Gift Shop.
10/15/98..... Arline delivered a gift to Gene Sirak who had a mild heart attack.
10/15/98..... U.S. Travel in Tucson gave refreshments and a talk. Fritzs and MacDonalds won mugs in their raffle.
10/22/98..... vPhoenix Mall shopping, 7 went. Lunch at Rain Forest -- food and service were disappointing.
10/23/98..... Gaslight Theater for "Secret Agent Man". Dinner at Macayo's.
10/29/98..... vSabino Canyon Picnic, 7 went.
11/05/98..... Introduced Armando & Magda Quiros and Larry & Pat Senick. Welcomed back the Glimsdahls (snowbirds).
11/05/98..... Otto Bayer had what was thought to be a severe reaction to a flu shot which later turned out to be Valley Fever. Members were asked to send support to Ilse.
11/06/98..... Laff's Comedy Theater was canceled due to lack of interest.
11/12/98..... vDesert Museum trip.
12/03/98..... Welcomed back Eunice and Glen Griffin (snowbirds).
12/03/98..... An active week for Arline: Janet Knebel had hand surgery; Gene Beverly -- heart surgery; Bo Bolin -- knee replacement; Learta Boettcher -- sick; Otto Bayer -- moved to a care center (not doing well).
12/03/98..... No one would accept the secretary nomination for 1999. Lew MacDonald said he would do it if someone would do his president's job. James Mooty said that he would do it for a year.
12/04/98..... vGaslight Theater for "Give My Regards to Santa". Dinner at Macayo's. About 12 went.
12/10/98..... Lew announced that Otto Bayer had died the previous evening. A check was sent to Ilse.
12/19/98..... Christmas dinner party, co-chairs Vi Johnson and Marlene Pfeuffer. White elephant gift exchange.
