Minutes of Meeting for July 19, 2018
Call to Order: Bill E. led us in the Pledge and then we sang God Bless America. Bill then turned the meeting over to Debi who was filling in for Barb.
- Hostesses: Barb L. and Susan D. Debi reported 29 in attendance today. She also introduced Theresa Scott who was a guest of Betty Nothcutt’s as well as Julie and Wally who we hope will join us as well.
- Vice President: Debbi S.: We are at 114 members.
- Secretary: Kristi G.: No corrections to the minutes and they were accepted.
- Treasurer: Walt R.: Walt reports $2,142.47 in the bank. Please people, remember to put your money in the pot for coffee “and”. It’s $2.00 for a cup of coffee which includes all refills; $1.00 for sweets. Thanks much.
- Coordinators’ Reports:
Sunshine: Mary M.: Edna told Mary that Janet Kels is in a full leg cast due to her last fall. For those of you who don’t know, Janet is blind and has no family here and she’s quite lonely. Let’s rally around her and send lots of cards and call if you can. After all, none of us would be here if it wasn’t for Janet as she started SCRCR!
Larry Lemieux was home and the surgery went well but unfortunately, he had a lung collapse and wound up at North West Medical Center. He may be coming home within the next couple of days, so for now a card or a phone call would be nice. No visitors just yet please.
Nancy Pearson is recuperating well and feeling much better. We hope to see her and Bob soon.
· Historian: Magda Q.: No report, but thanks for the tabs. Magda also brought up that we should all start wearing our nametags again because we are getting more and more new members and let’s face it folks, our memories for names and such isn’t quite what it used to be, so let’s try to remember our nametags.
· Philanthropy: No report.
· Activities: See activities listed below. Note: When you sign up for an activity, please let whoever oversees that activity know whether or not you’ll make it. It’s embarrassing if you tell a place that 30 or 40 folks are coming to a function, so they set up for that, get extra help for that and then only 20 or so show up. Please remember to RSVP if you are going to attend something and to let the person in charge know if you can’t make it. Thanks.
- Group Concerns/Good of the Group
- Dennis Foster put out there that he is collecting your empty pill bottles for the Pima Animal Care facility. They need them to give out to folks who may adopt or foster dogs/cats who may need medication when they leave their facility.
- Cindy Tolleson brought in yarn and an afghan for whoever could use it.
- Bill brought up about the water problems in certain parts of Marana. You can look this article up in the Arizona Daily Star.
- Thought for the Day: Sandy P. The thought for the day is “Don’t complicate life: Missing somebody? Call
Wanna meet up? Invite
Wanna be understood? Explain
Have questions? Ask
Don’t like something? Say it
Like something? State it
Want something? Ask for it
Love someone? Tell them
Keep your life simple.
The joke of the day: “Not to brag, but I just went into another room and actually remembered why I went in there. It was the bathroom, but still….”😊
- Adjournment: Bill E.: Bill adjourned the meeting at 10:01 AM.
