Minutes of Meeting Held May 14, 2009
1. Call to Order: President Joan Travis-Triumph. In Joan’s absence, Vice-president Jim Alam opened the meeting at 9:30 AM. Jorge led the pledge of allegiance. Thirty-six people were present.
2. Host/Hostess: Ed & Collette: Betty, a friend of Jim and Linda, was introduced.
3. Vice-President: Jim: No change in membership. Jim read a joke, followed by a poem.
4. Secretary: Lew: Last week’s minutes were passed as read.
5. Treasurer: Walt: Financial status: Checking: $718, Cash: $8, Total: $726. (No extra-ordinary expenses were incurred.)
6. Coordinators Reports:
6.1 Refreshments: Jan & Linda A.: Today’s refreshments were by Jim & Linda with Barbara H. (If unable to help as scheduled, please let Linda or Jan know by Tuesday, if possible.)
6.2 Sunshine: John & Linda D. (a) Ernie was recovering OK and was now eating soft food. .….. (b) Nothing else to report. Please call if you hear of any health issues.
6.3 Philanthropy: Betty: Nothing new to report.
6.4 Activities: Alice: (in Denver). See the attached agenda for events in the next few weeks.
7. Old and/or New Business: None.
8. Good of the Group: (a) JoAnn told us about Mothers Day; seven attended. It was 96º to 98º in the shade and 104º in the open, so anyone who got soaked dried quickly. …. (b) Lew had contacted Papa Murphy’s manager (beside Fry’s) who had expressed an interest in providing free samples of their pizza at one of our meetings. Jim asked Jan to follow up on it and try to have it on the 28th of this month. The establishment is a “take and bake” facility but the samples will be pre-cooked for us. ….. (c) For the first time ever, none of the SCRCR birthday celebrants was present, so Jim had us all sing Happy Birthday anyway.
