Minutes of Meeting for October 6, 2016
1. Call to Order: Iles W., began the meeting at 9:30 am with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by us all singing God Bless America.
Sandy introduced Lorraine and Debi from Medicare Solutions who gave us a very informative talk on Medicare and the upcoming insurance changes. These ladies were very helpful and knowledgeable.
2. Host/Hostess: Barb L. and Susan D. There were 48 in attendance this morning.
3. Vice-President: Larry L.: 116 or 117 SCRCR members total.
4. Secretary: Kristi G.: Minutes for September 29, 2016 were approved and accepted.
5. Treasurer: Carol A.: No Carol so no report. Week before was $2,192.00 in the bank.
6. Coordinators’ Reports:
a. Sunshine: Sandy P.: No report.
b. Historian: Magda: No report.
c. Busybody: Elaine H.: No report.

7. Group Concerns/Good of the Group: The nominations for charities to give to this Christmas season are local Salvation Army, local Disabled American Vets, Abused Woman’s Shelter and Youth on Their Own. These were all voted for unanimously. Sharon S., reminded everyone to bring their Lego donations to Thursday’s meeting for the Banner Children’s Hospital being as September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and she knows of a 4-year-old who is putting up a valiant fight with this awful disease. This has been extended through the end of November.
Just a helpful hint to keep handy – In case you need our NW Fire Department in the evening hours, call 911 and tell them your problem (such as a smoke detector going off) and they will have someone come out ASAP. Don’t bother calling the non-emergency number listed, just call 911 and you will be helped.
Bill E. told us that Comcast has an app that will stop all robo calls to your numbers.
8. Thought of the Day: As always, Sandy P. closed the meeting with a great thought along with a great ending joke.
9. Adjournment: Iles W.: Meeting was adjourned at 10:41 AM. No reports given due to length of Medicare talk.
